Rapid Rail Link Construction Powers Ahead

Construction of the Gautrain rapid-rail link is progressing along the entire 80-km route. By the end of May, just over 6 km of the 15-km tunnel section of the Gautrain route had been excavated, and earthworks and construction of viaducts and bridges are taking place along sections of the route above ground, Bombela Turnkey Contractor’s civil construction director Chris Andrew tells Engineering News.

Gautrain Rapid Rail Link

Shareholders are referred to a statement issued today by Gauteng Province in South Africa which confirms that agreement has been reached with the Bombela Consortium (consisting of Bombardier, Bouygues, Murray & Roberts and SPG) on all the substantive issues within the affordability limit set for the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link project. This provides the framework for finalisation of the terms and Financial Closure of the Concession Agreement.
